Are you an aspiring fiction writer? Nervous about releasing your novel out into the wild for the first time?
I’m Julie Marksteiner, and I’m a freelance editor and proofreader. I work with a wide range of genres, but particularly love children’s, YA and speculative fiction. Whether you’re getting ready to self-publish or you want to submit your manuscript to agents and publishers, I can work with you to make sure your words are the best they can be.
I offer a range of editing and proofreading services. This could be a line edit to make sure your writing is beautifully crafted, or a final proofread to catch those niggly errors that insist on sneaking past you. I can also make sure your manuscript is ready for self-publishing and adheres to the correct formatting standards for e-publication. Take a look at my services page for details of everything I offer.
Why choose me?
It can be hard to entrust your words to someone else, so let me reassure you that you’re in the right place.
My educational background is in literature and media, and I spent a number of years working in television which cultivated my love of storytelling. I understand how wonderful it is to see a child’s eyes light up as they listen to their favourite stories (usually for the tenth time that day) and I get the warm fuzzies when I spot a teen with their nose in a YA classic instead of tinkering on their smartphone. I’m very passionate about YA fiction in particular, so you can be sure that your manuscript is in the hands of someone who understands and cares about the genre.
As a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, I am bound by their code of practice. This ensures you will receive a professional level of service, and your work will be edited to a high standard.

A bit more about me
I live on the borders of Bedfordshire with my sleepy rescue cat Toki and my less sleepy boyfriend, Gary. Most of the time I am rocking the ‘librarian with a cup of tea in a cardigan’ cliché.
When I’m not reading (it’s rare, but it does happen!) I’m a bit of a nerdy gamer girl. I love a ridiculously hot curry and superheroes are my favourite sort of people.
If your novel is ready for some Little Fox love, please have a look at my services page and see how I can help you.
